Sebaceous adenoma in a Dog
History: 13-year-old Britanny Spaniel, spayed female, showing a discrete hairless mass on ventral aspect of right carpus.
Cytological description: The smears show a clear background with multiple medium- to large-sized clusters of epithelial cells. These are characterized by a large amount of finely vacuolated cytoplasm, one small to medium-sized round nucleus, no prominent nucleoli, and mild to moderate anisocytosis and anisokaryosis.
Comments: Most sebaceous adenoma are less than 1 cm in diameter, wartlike or cauliflowerlike, and can become ulcerated.
