In-House Ultrasound
VDIC offers ultrasound appointments at our referral facility. As an extension of your hospital, our highly trained staff will do everything possible to reflect positively on your practice. When you choose to schedule an appointment at our facility, you will be providing specialty level care and services to your clients. With diagnostic ultrasound and the availability of our cytopathologists to interpret biopsy samples, there is the added advantage of immediate results. Both of our cytopathologists are nationally recognized experts in interpreting fine needle biopsy samples.
Advantages of performing ultrasound examinations at VDIC :
- If the veterinarian's schedule is full, the ultrasound exam does not tie up staff, exam room or treatment room.
- If fine needle biopsies are obtained, results are available immediately rather than the following day. Having cytopathologists and radiologists under the same roof means a higher diagnostic yield and lower morbidity: We can stain the first smears and have them quickly screened by one of our pathologists for cellularity while the patient is still anesthetized. This reduces the number of samples obtained and in the rare instances when diagnostic samples are not obtained, we know immediately and we can re-perform the biopsies.
- There are usually at least two radiologists in the office therefore your patient/client can get two or more expert opinions for the price of one on difficult cases!
