How to refer a patient to VDIC for an MRI

To refer a patient for an MRI study, simply click on the refer a patient link above, print out the request form, complete it, and fax it back to VDIC at 503-722-8076.

Please provide the pet owner with VDIC’s MRI brochure or direct them to our website for more information prior to the appointment.

Once VDIC has received the request form, we will contact the pet owner to schedule the MRI appointment.

A few things to remember:

  • Patients should be stabilized prior to MRI examinations. A consultation with an internist or other specialist is recommended in complex cases.
  • Because patients have to be anesthetized, a complete blood work and urinalysis are recommended. Please fax results to VDIC at: 503-722-8076.
  • Because ferro-magnetic objects cause artifacts that can make MRI studies useless, radiographs of all body parts to be examined should be submitted prior to the appointment.
  • Pet owners or one of your technicians should bring the patient to VDIC 15 minutes prior to the scheduled appointment. MRI studies including anesthesia and recovery last approximately 90 minutes.
  • Reports and recommendations will be faxed to your hospital within 24 hours. A CD containing the MRI images will be provided to the pet owner or mailed by to your hospital at your request.

If you have any questions, please send us an email or call our office (1-888-342-7828).

Thank you for your referral. We are confident you will find VDIC offers the finest diagnostic imaging services available. As an extension of your hospital, we will do everything we can to reflect positively on your practice.
