Ultrasound

In-House – VDIC is a nationally recognized leader in ultrasound imaging. In our experience, by combining ultrasound results with fine needle biopsy findings, one can obtain a diagnosis in up to 90% of the cases. Local veterinarians have the option of referring patients to our office for an ultrasound exam or using our Mobile Ultrasound Service.

Advantages of performing ultrasound examinations at VDIC :
  1. It ensures same-day service without emergency fee when our mobile ultrasound schedule is full.
  2. If the veterinarian's schedule is full, the ultrasound exam does not tie up staff, exam room or treatment room.
  3. If fine needle biopsies are obtained, results are available immediately rather than the following day. Having cytopathologists and sonographers under the same roof means a higher diagnostic yield and lower morbidity: We can stain the first smears and have them quickly screened by one of our pathologists for cellularity while the patient is still anesthetized. This reduces the number of samples obtained and in the rare instances when diagnostic samples are not obtained, we know immediately and we can perform Tru-cut biopsies.
  4. There are usually at least two radiologists in the office therefore your patient/client can get two or more expert opinions for the price of one on difficult cases!
  5. If an MRI or CT appears useful, it can often be performed immediately.

Mobile Ultrasound - VDIC offers mobile ultrasound services to clinics and hospitals within 35 miles of our office. We travel to your practice to perform ultrasound exams and ultrasound-guided needle biopsies. In our experience, by combining ultrasound results with fine needle biopsy findings, one can obtain a diagnosis in up to 95% of the cases. We are proud to say that we have acquired national recognition as leaders in this field.

Telesonography - In addition to our mobile ultrasound services serving the Portland-Vancouver area, we offer a nationwide ultrasound interpretation service. Sonograms can be sent via mail or FedEx delivery (thermal prints or videotapes) or via telesonography. We also offer ultrasound training tailored to your needs.

Thank you for your referral. We are confident you will find VDIC offers the finest diagnostic imaging services available. As an extension of your hospital, we will do everything we can to reflect positively on your practice.
